Nonotuck Park
Nonotuck Park holds dear memories for us. The old toddler playground was frequently visited by us when S was small. Nowadays we drive by the newly constructed playground climber (thank you giant oak tree for crushing the old one) as we make our way to the back fields for some baseball.
What an incredible community to be a part of. The hub at Nonotcuk has fueled many young athletes to strive for greatness. There is ample space for families to come together outdoors to enjoy some baseball, good company, bird sightings and freshly popped popcorn.
What a treasure we have, right here in the center of town.
“The present-day town of Northampton was settled within the Indigenous homeland called Nonotuck, situated along both sides of the Connecticut River, known to Native people as the Quinneticook or Kwinitekw (“long river”). Nonotuck territory also includes parts of present-day Easthampton, Hatfield, Hadley, and Amherst ...” Margaret M. Bruchac https://www.historicnorthampton.org/ntn.html
